Using images to bring writing alive

Attention Graphic Novel readers and Fiction readers! Do you ever struggle with deciding what to read next? Can’t decide between a GN and a fiction book? Many authors have extremely visual styles and by including illustrations in their works, they have given us the best of both worlds.

Just imagine some of our favorite series published in a graphic novel format or with illustrations (Harry Potter series or the Divergent series would be wicked).  The following titles blur the lines between graphic and prose novels. Each was published with illustrations and the author has included artwork to enhance the appeal of the book.

The Chronicles of the Imaginarium Geographica series by James A. Owen

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie

Happyface by Stephen Emond

The Invention of Hugo Cabret, written and illustrated by Brian Selznick

Hark! A Vigrant by Kate Beaton

More like a comic but full of literary references
