Pokémon Craze

Pokémon is taking over the world again. In all the hype about Pokémon Go! We were inspired to hunt for books, games and movies that are similar to the Pokémon franchise. Below you will find many items for you to check out and available at your local library.


  • Furies of Calderon (Codex Alera #1) by Jim Butcher
    • Jim Butcher made wrote a fantasy book(s) based on Roman legions
  • His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novik
    • The premise is that warriors ride mighty fighting dragons, bred for size or speed.
  • The Novice (Summoner #1) by  Taran Matharu.
    • The Novice is the first in a trilogy about Fletcher, his demon Ignatius, and the war against the Orcs. After blacksmith apprentice Fletcher discovers he has the ability to summon demons, he travels to Adept Military Academy to train in the art of summoning. Fletcher is put through grueling training as a battlemage to fight in the Hominum Empire’s war against orcs.
  • Naruto 3-in-1. Volume 1 (Graphic Novel) By Masashi Kishimoto
    • Masashi Kishimoto is a Japanese manga artist, well known for creating the manga series Naruto. Naruto is about a story of a young ninja determined to become the world’s greatest ninja.



  • Dinosaur King Volume 1 (Fantasy Television Program)

An animated TV series based on the game by Sega. While out helping at a paleontology excavation in Africa, Max and his friend Rex uncover a set of dinosaur cards and magic stones which were left by the dinosaurs as a call for help. Max and Rex must try and collect all the missing cards in time.

  • Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury (Fantasy Film)

The Dragons are back in the next chapter of the How to Train Your Dragon saga. The epic story of Hiccup and Toothless continues as they take flight in an adventure to discover an island of never-before-seen dragons.
