Quick Writing Sessions for Teens

Here at the North Battleford Library, we’re in the process of developing a writing session idea, and would love to hear what you think!

The idea is that we get together and write something based on a given prompt. Afterwards, teens can share what they’ve written, if interested, and have positive feedback, or constructive criticism of their work. No dissing allowed, no tearing apart another’s work; this is to help us all become better writers for school, or just for fun.

Any thoughts? We’d love to hear them!

New date for Teen Zone!

Teen Zone will now happen on March 9th and not March 2nd! Teen Zone is an after school safe, supportive and friendly space for teens (ages 13-18). It is drop-in! Teens will meet other teens in a relaxed and fun environment. Teens will be able to chat with teens about their homework! Make buttons! Play board games! Hang out! Make new friends! Have free snacks! Teens are encouraged to bring ideas as to what they want to happen in the Teen Zone.

On Friday I am going to a local high school to talk about the program in grade 7 and 8 classrooms! I’m looking forward to seeing how many teens will come to the program and how the program will develop! I look forward to hearing what ideas for the program the teens come up with! What do you think would be great activities for Teen Zone?

The board below is wrong! The date should be the 9th!

The Mysterious Case of the Mutant Library Books!

Mystery2

October is here and that means it’s time for a contest just for teens aged 13 to 18! The Mysterious Case of the Mutant Library Books runs from October 1st to October 31st. We’ve filled a display with daring, chilling, romantic, adventurous and downright scary books. Here’s the catch: we’ve wrapped all of the books so you won’t know exactly what you’re picking up! There are some clues, but the title will remain a mystery until you get your book home.
